MEDIA CENTER INFORMATION FOR STAFF

Information for Teachers & Staff

We want to collaborate with you to enhance your curricular and learning goals.  You may bring your classes here to check out materials, review instructions for using digital resources (including Google integration), citation information/resources, research (FINDS: Florida Research Model), critical evaluation of sources, and/or  Book Tastings.  If you have any other ideas, we would love to work with you to make it happen!

    MULTI-MEDIA USE AND AUDIO VISUAL PROCEDURES (fill out this form)

    Before submitting films for approval:

    • ALL videos shown to students should be consistent with the School Board education goals, policies, and specific course objectives.
    • ALL videos shown to students should adhere to copyright laws.
    • ALL videos usage should reflect best practices based on age-appropriateness and instructional relevance. 
    • ALL videos shown to students should be approved by the school principal (or appointed designee) PRIOR to student viewing.
    • Videos should adhere to F.S. 1006.34(2)(b) which prohibits the showing of movies that are not age-appropriate. 
    • preview the material in its entirety
    • ensure the goals for showing the film are consistent with educational goals of CCPS and the objectives of the specific course and/or activities
    • check to ensure the film has literary, aesthetic, social, and/or educational value
    • enusure the film is as free from bias as possible
    • ensure the film is age-appropriate and contains accurate data

    Procedures:

    • Complete this form. The submission will be sent to your Principal, Assistant Principal, or other administrative designee.
    • Once administration approves the form, then the media specialist on your campus will consider the title for approval.
    • You will be notified via email if and when your video submission was approved, and only at that point can you show the film to your class.

    • Media Center Computer Lab
    • Tutorials for utilization of databases or other learning software
    • Passes - Students must have a pass (we use the SmartPass system) when coming to the Media Center independently during the school day.
      • Students may come to the media center to look for reading materials, work on research projects, work on homework, or study independently.  The media center staff reserve the right to send students back to class if they do not have anything to work on or are disrupting other students.  Our goal is to collaborate with staff members to ensure students utilize their instructional time wisely. 
    • Signing Up to Use the Library/Media Center Computer Lab/Small Side Room - Simply call or email us your request.  
    • Substitutes - Under most circumstances, substitutes will not be permitted to bring classes or send students to the Media Center or Computer Lab.  Please make this note in your sub plans.
    • Computer Lab - Simply call or email us to request bringing your classes to the computer lab.
